  1. Determine cut-out size: Check the cut-out size (hole diameter) of the spotlight in the product specifications. This is the diameter of the hole you need to drill in the ceiling.
  2. Check installation depth: Measure the available space above the suspended ceiling. The installation depth of the spot (including any driver) must fit here. There are extra flat recessed spots available for ceilings with limited space.
  3. Turn off the power: Always switch off power to the circuit before starting installation work. Verify this with a voltage tester.

Mounting the Recessed Spotlight

The exact installation may differ depending on the type of recessed spot. Most LED recessed spotlights with integrated drivers can be connected directly to the 230V mains. Spots operating at 12V require a transformer to convert mains voltage.

Note for professionals: When replacing halogen recessed spots that operate with a transformer, it is recommended to check if the existing transformer is suitable for LED. Sometimes it's better to replace the transformer with an LED driver or install a 230V LED recessed spotlight to avoid flickering or shortened lifespan.
  1. Drill the hole: Use an appropriate hole saw to drill a hole of the correct cut-out size at the desired location in the ceiling.
  2. Connect wiring: Connect the wiring of the recessed spotlight to the mains. Ensure safe and reliable connections with terminal blocks or clamps. If a driver is present, connect it according to the instructions.
  3. Install the spot: Push the spring clips of the spotlight upwards and carefully slide the fixture into the drilled hole until the spring clips securely fix the spot in the ceiling.
  4. Insert light source (if applicable): If the spot requires a separate light source (such as GU10), insert it into the socket and twist a quarter turn to secure.
  5. Switch on power: Switch the power back on and check the operation of the recessed spotlight.
